Manchester Bidwell’s Annual Campaign Kickoff Celebrates Mentorship

(PITTSBURGH): A salute to the relationships that are created between teachers and students at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild and Bidwell Training Center will highlight Manchester Bidwell Corporation’s Celebration of Mentorship on Tuesday, April 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

One of the most valuable experiences a student can have is exposure to a mentor who is willing to share values, interests, time, talents and skills. When the mentor is a good match for the student, the relationship can provide encouragement, inspiration and new insights. Its purpose is to transform lives. (more…)

Joe Negri honored at Third Grade Jazz

Mayor Bob O’Connor will present guitarist Joe Negri with a proclamation recognizing his contributions to music-based youth education.

Mr. Negri will be honored today at 11 a.m. at the Manchester Craftmen’s Guild.

Star Makers Gala

Bill Strickland had star billing at Point Park University’s Starmakers Gala in the Hilton ballroom. When the visionary potter founded the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, he envisioned a program that would use art to keep inner city kids off the streets. Today, the Manchester Bidwell enterprise in the North Side has grown into a national model for career education, culture and hope … a success story that other cities are clamoring to replicate. And, if you need an introduction to this man, may I ask how long was your nap, Mr. Van Winkle?
